Peplum Shirt #2 :)

I made another peplum shirt yesterday, and finished it just in time to wear to church last night :). It's made from the pattern of the first peplum shirt, with a few changes.  This is my favorite of the two so far :).

I used red and grey striped cotton knit, and it's a little thicker and not quite as stretchy as the material peplum #1 was made out of.  For the sleeves I traced out a sleeve shape similar to a regular t shirt sleeve, and then added length for the ruching up the center.  The sleeve also has a slight gather at the top.

The fabric and the zipper were both free, so this shirt cost nothing! :) Here are some pictures of the finished top.

ruched sleeves! :)

I didn't really try to match the stripes up, but they do match just about everywhere :)  Go random pattern placements! :)

One more shirt left to go.  I think it will be my favorite....it's definetly going to be classified as "vintagy", a look I love but haven't tried to pull off yet.  Pastels...lace...fluttering....bows...flowers. :)

So that was Peplum Shirt #2.  Hope you liked it!

    1. Thanks Ruth! :) I like the word "wowie"...it sounds so funny :). Actually, thread didn't even cost...that was given to me with the stash! The only thread we have ever bought was white thread I think. I quickly exhausted the supply of white thread when sewing underpinnings for 4 eras :). Thanks for commenting!

    1. That's correct-nothing! :) Yes, I'm going to make one more, in a "vintage romantic" style :). I'm a little worried it will be too summery for winter, but I think I could wear it during the fall. :)

    1. Thanks so much F! :) You probably have draping skills somewhere inside of you (you for sure have the sewing ones!) :) lol. And you'll never know unless you try! I was weary at first...like I said in my blog post about Caroline's 1770's gown, I thought draping was like for the highest of the high seamstresses, but it's so stinkin' easy! :D And now that I've done it a few times, I feel more comfortable (well getting poked by a pin isn't very comfortable....:P) and at ease when doing it. And not everything turns out perfect, most "good" things in sewing take a little tweaking :). But I think you'd be able to do it! If you do venture into that area...do post or send me pictures of what you try!

    2. You should do a tutorial on draping things like this! I'm sure lots of people (myself included) would find it useful. c;
